Edith Cowan University (ECU) is proud to announce that the 2024 Sir Frank Ledger Scholarship has been awarded to Caeden Porter.

Members of the Sir Frank Ledger Charitable Trust met with ECU's Vice-Chancellor Professor Stephen Chapman and Pro Vice-Chancellor and Executive Dean of ECU's School of Engineering, Daryoush Habibi, to celebrate and mark the occasion. Caeden is the first recipient of this scholarship since the Trust gifted $1 million to support future engineers at ECU.

The support offered by the Sir Frank Ledger Scholarship is life-changing for scholarship recipients, with impact extending far beyond financial benefit. It helps exceptional students reach their academic goals by providing $10,000 per year for the duration of their course, up to 4 years.

The gift of a scholarship is a transformative investment in the future. It not only eases the financial burden on students but also unlocks their potential, paving the way for academic and personal growth. It empowers talented students to pursue their dreams and make a meaningful impact on society.

"I really cannot overstate my gratitude in receiving this scholarship. The relief it has provided has given me stability in a turbulent time," says Caeden.

Professor Daryoush Habibi says "Australia is in critical need of more professional engineers to provide the kind of innovative thinking that is needed to solve global challenges relating to sustainability, food security, and climate change."

The School of Engineering at ECU is recognised internationally for its excellent quality of education and research, supported by highly supportive and committed academics and outstanding facilities.

ECU is proud to continue Sir Frank’s legacy through the gift of endowed scholarships, thanks to a $1M donation from Sir Frank Ledger Charitable Trust.

Awarded to engineering students who embody Sir Frank’s drive and commitment to academic excellence, these scholarships continue to reflect Sir Frank’s ethos, values and desire to benefit the community.
