A long-time supporter of Edith Cowan University (ECU), Raymond Gordon has made a significant contribution to the future of education by leaving a Gift in Will to ECU. The gift will provide scholarships to students pursuing business studies.

Having first connected with ECU in 2008, Raymond was a lecturer at the South-West Institute of Technology (SWIT) Bunbury Campus, which shares a location with ECU’s South West Campus.

Through his role, Raymond became deeply engaged with the university, participating in professional development and later earning a Bachelor's Degree in Learning and Organisational Development from ECU in 2012.

Reflecting on his decision to leave a gift to a university, Raymond emphasised the importance of funding local and international students and researchers. “Students and researchers provide answers to ensure fully functional and progressive economies.”, Raymond said.

But why ECU?

“ECU has an excellent business faculty, which need gifts to help fund students with scholarships to study and become future leaders in the professions and industry. My gift will help ECU and their students provide a better result for future economies”, Raymond said.

While no longer pursuing formal education himself, Raymond is passionate about ensuring future generations have the opportunity to study at ECU, particularly in the field of business.

His bequest will establish a scholarship to support students in business and legal studies, helping them become leaders in their fields.

In encouraging others to consider leaving a legacy to ECU or another charity, Raymond shared some advice - “Don’t leave Will-making until it’s too late. None of us know when we may lose the ability to think clearly about who should benefit from our gifts. Completing a Will early benefits both the giver and the recipients.”

Through this generous bequest, Raymond is ensuring that future ECU students will have the resources and support to thrive, paving the way for a brighter future in business and beyond.
