Bachelor of Science (Nursing Studies)

This course provides Registered Nurses qualifying at diploma level in their country of origin with an opportunity to obtain an Australian degree. The course is not Professionally-Accredited and therefore does not lead to registration with the Nurses and Midwives Board of Australia.

Course Learning Outcomes

  1. Collaborate with the interdisciplinary health care team to provide comprehensive nursing care.
  2. Conduct a comprehensive and systematic nursing Assessment.
  3. Coordinate, organise and provide nursing care that includes the assessment of individuals /groups, planning, implementation and evaluation of care.
  4. Demonstrate critical thinking and analysis related to self-appraisal, professional development and the value of evidence and research for practice with reflection on practice, feelings and beliefs and the consequences of these for individuals/groups.
  5. Demonstrate knowledge of the role of the Registered Nurse that encompasses professional, legal and ethical responsibilities including accountability for practice, functioning in accordance with legislation affecting nursing and health care, and the protection of individual and group rights.
  6. Establish, maintain and appropriately conclude therapeutic relationships.
  7. Establish, sustain and conclude professional relationships with individuals/groups through an understanding of Registered Nurses' contribution to the interdisciplinary healthcare team.
  8. Evaluate progress towards expected individual/group health outcomes in consultation with individuals/groups, significant others and interdisciplinary health care team.
  9. Participate in ongoing professional development of self and others.
  10. Plan nursing care in consultation with individuals/groups, significant others and the interdisciplinary health care team.
  11. Practice responsibly in accordance with legislation affecting nursing practice and health care.
  12. Practice within a professional and ethical nursing Framework.
  13. Provide comprehensive, safe and effective evidence-based nursing care to achieve identified individual/group health outcomes.
  14. Review, analyse and synthesise knowledge to enable the provision of comprehensive, safe and effective evidence-based nursing care to achieve identified individual/group health outcomes.

Course Specific Admission Requirements

All applicants are required to be Registered Nurses in their country of origin.

Portfolio pathway applications are not accepted for this course.
