What is Work Integrated Learning (WIL)?

WIL provides our industry partners with the opportunity to access student talent across a broad range of disciplines and courses. WIL students connect with industry and community members as part of their university studies through work-based (internships, placements), virtual or on-campus (projects, consultancies) opportunities.

Schools and study disciplines

We take a whole-of-university approach to explore student partnership opportunities that suit your organisation. For more specific information about student skill and talent areas, please review our Schools and their study disciplines.

Case studies

Case study 1: Work Integrated Learning

Work Integrated Learning allows students like Claudia to apply the knowledge and practical skills developed in the classroom in a way that is directly relevant to their study area.

WIL practical placements typically include a 13-week semester in a workplace or can be project-based, helping businesses solve problems.

Case study 2: Internship model

ECU's collaboration with IBM gives students like Aryana an opportunity to complete a paid internship during their studies and a possible employment offer when they graduate.

They get first-hand experience on meaningful work within a large consulting firm, while undertaking professional development and networking with industry professionals.
