The ECU Sri Lanka Undergraduate Sports Achievement Scholarship is offered to students who commence studies at the ECU Sri Lanka campus and select ECU undergraduate courses in 2025. The scholarship program is designed to attract high achievers from the field of sports. The scholarship offers a 20% reduction in tuition fees for ECU units undertaken in the first three teaching periods of Year 1 (up to a maximum of 8 units) at ECU’s campus in Colombo, Sri Lanka.

- Applicants must be domestic students(Sri Lankan citizens) who receive an offer to commence study at ECU’s Campus in Colombo, Sri Lanka and select an ECU undergraduate degree
- Open to prospective students (not current students) who commence study in 2025 in either Semester One (February 2025), Semester Two (July 2025) or Summer Term (November 2025)
- Applicable for students who have been captains of sports teams in schools or higher categories (within the last 5 year), in the mentioned categories
- The financial assistance will be offered for the first three teaching periods of Year 1 (up to a maximum of 8 units).
Eligibility guidelines
To be eligible for this scholarship you must:
- Be a domestic student(Sri Lankan citizen) studying at ECU’s campus in Colombo, Sri Lanka;
- Not be in receipt of a government scholarship or industry sponsorship;
- Can demonstrate high achievement in the following sports.
Football, Basketball, Cricket, Swimming, Badminton, Chess, Debating, Rugby, Netball, E-Sports; Valorant, Minecraft, Forza, CODM, Free Fire, Mortal Kombat and Fortnite; - Have been issued an offer to commence study in Year 1 of the select undergraduate programs in 2025; and
- Meet ECU’s academic and English language entry requirements for the select course and any other applicable admission requirements imposed by ECU’s statutes, by-laws, rules and policies and procedures.
Terms and conditions
The following ongoing conditions apply to this scholarship:
- The scholarship recipient must continue to meet the eligibility guidelines and these terms and conditions at the time of applying and throughout their period of study to which this scholarship applies.
- The scholarship recipient must be in continuous good standing academically (green status) and financially.
- The scholarship cannot be used on repeated units.
- Course transfers are not permitted without ECU’s permission (permission may be withheld by ECU in its absolute discretion).
- The scholarship discount can only be used for tuition fees in the first three teaching periods of the Course, to a maximum of 8 units, and cannot be used for any other student expense. The discount will be applied on a unit-by-unit basis at the relevant census date.
- A Student who receives this scholarship will not be entitled to apply for credit for recognition of prior learning in relation to the Course.
- The scholarship cannot be transferred to any other ECU location, ACBT or any other partner organisation, or to another university or education provider.
- The scholarship recipient must pay their tuition fees within the stipulated payment deadlines, failure to do so may negate the scholarship and the tuition fee structure will revert to full-fee payment.
- The scholarship can be revoked if the recipient does not accept their Letter of Offer or enrol in their course by the date specified.
- The commencement of the scholarship cannot be deferred.
- The scholarship recipient may be ineligible for the scholarship if they are in receipt of a government scholarship, industry sponsorship, or another ECU scholarship or grant during the term of the scholarship. This is at the discretion of ECU.
- The scholarship recipient must comply with any applicable requirements under ECU’s statutes, rules, by-laws, policies, procedures or other similar instruments.
- The recipient must notify ECU of any change of circumstances that may affect their ongoing eligibility to receive the scholarship.
All scholarships are awarded at ECU’s absolute discretion. Assessment of achievements is at ECU’s absolute discretion. ECU reserves the right to revoke the scholarship at any stage if a student is found to have provided information that is misleading, does not meet the scholarship eligibility criteria (including ECU’s standard and specific admission requirements), or does not comply with the ongoing conditions of the scholarship.
ECU reserves the right to decline to award scholarships if, in its opinion, there are no suitable applicants. The number of scholarships to be awarded shall be at ECU’s sole discretion. This scholarship may be withdrawn from offering by ECU at any time.
How to apply
If we approve your ECU course application you’ll automatically be assessed for this scholarship by our Admissions Office. No separate scholarship application is required.
The Admissions Office will issue a separate letter relating to your scholarship, along with a Letter of Offer for your course, to confirm whether you’ve been successful.
