At a glance

Applications are invited for a PhD project through either traditional or practice-led research that considers creative responses to some of the key issues of our times.

Topics might include, but are not limited to:

  • scholarly and artistic responses to climate change
  • projects that consider emerging (humanities or creative-arts led) approaches to dealing with extreme weather events
  • ethical questions around place and belonging in Australia as represented in creative arts practice
  • theoretical or artistic projects that consider the plight of oppressed and or displaced peoples

Eligibility guidelines

To be eligible for this scholarship applicants must:

  • Meet the entry requirements of ECU.
  • Bachelor’s degree with Honours or a Master’s degree in the arts, culture, or a related field.
  • Relevant professional experience will also be favourably considered.
  • Demonstrated research skills in a field relevant to this project.
  • Demonstrated research interest is aspects of creative arts, visual culture climate change and politics or ethics
  • Candidates who identify as First Nations or from underrepresented groups are encouraged to apply

Selection Criteria

Please send your CV and a brief (three-page) EOI addressing the criteria to h.grehan@ecu.edu.au by 5 September, 2024.

In responding to the criteria please include:

  • A project proposal of three pages or less outlining your area of interest and providing some information on background and approach to the study

If successful at EOI stage, candidates will be required to submit a formal course application
