Inspiring Minds Equity Scholarship

The Inspiring Minds Equity Scholarship Fund is made possible by generous donations from ECU Staff, Alumni and Community. These Scholarships offer a one off payment of $3000 and aims to provide support to current undergraduate students who may have experienced financial difficulties, personal hardships or come from underrepresented backgrounds, with the costs associated with University study.

At a glance

This scholarship is open to current ECU students and encourages applications from;

  • students from low socio-economic backgrounds
  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students
  • students with disability
  • students with chronic illness, medical conditions and/or mental health conditions
  • students with caring responsibilities
  • care leavers / people with experience of out-of-home care
  • students from rural or regional areas of Australia
  • LGBTIQA+ students
  • students impacted by family and domestic violence

Eligibility guidelines

To be eligible for this scholarship you must:

  • be an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident or New Zealand citizen;
  • be enrolled in any Undergraduate Bachelor or Honours course at ECU;
  • have an academic progression status of GREEN;
  • be studying full-time (60 credit points);
  • have completed a minimum of 60 credit points of current course;
  • be able to provide evidence of financial hardship;
  • not currently be in receipt of any major scholarships of more than $5000 per annum or an ECU Equity Scholarship; and
  • not have been a previous recipient of this scholarship.

How to apply

Application is made via the ECU Online Scholarship Application Portal. Access to the portal is available between application opening and closing dates.

Applicants will be required to provide a personal statement of no more than 500 words addressing the below;

  • Describe circumstances which have had a significant impact on your capacity to study and outline what you hope to achieve upon completion of your studies.
  • Describe how receiving the scholarship will help you achieve these goals

Selection Process

Eligible applications will be assessed by a Selection Committee. Selection will based on:

  • Demonstrated need and personal circumstances.
