The Bendat Family Foundation Equity Scholarships

The Bendat Family Foundation Equity Scholarships Program invests in our future nurses, teachers and social workers who aspire to lead positive change and give back to the Western Australian community. Established to widen participation and break down barriers that restrict entry to education, the program aims to support students with social and economic disadvantage to thrive at university. The Scholarship will be offered to 9 students commencing in 2024. Recipients will be awarded $3,000 in the first year of study and thereafter $4,000 per semester for up to 3 years dependent on the course duration. Part time study will be paid pro rata.

Eligibility guidelines

In order to be eligible for this scholarship you must:

  • be an Australia citizen or Australian Permanent Resident;
  • be enrolled in an eligible Undergraduate or Postgraduate Degree having commenced in 2024;
  • have and maintain an academic progression status of GREEN;
  • be enrolled and remain enrolled in a minimum of 30 credit points (part-time will be paid pro rata);
  • be experiencing financial hardship or other personal difficulty; and
  • not be in receipt of another scholarship valued at $5000 or over per year.

School of Nursing and Midwifery

  • C33 - Bachelor of Science (Nursing)
  • Y76 - Bachelor of Science (Nursing)/Bachelor of Science (Midwifery)
  • J46 - Master of Nursing (Graduate Entry)

How to apply

Application is made via the ECU Online Scholarship Application Portal. Access to the Portal is available between application opening and closing dates.

Applicants will be required to provide a personal statement of no more than 500 words responding to the below question.

  • Describe your current financial personal circumstances and how you would benefit from receiving the Scholarship.
  • Demonstrate your drive and commitment to establish a career in your chosen field of study and how you will give back to your community.

Selection Process

Eligible applications will be assessed by a Selection Committee.

  • Content of Personal Statement
  • Responses to questions in the application process
