The WA Women's Society of Fine Arts and Crafts Scholarship in Visual Arts

The WA Women's Society of Fine Arts and Crafts Equity Scholarship will be offered to an ECU female student who is commencing her 2nd year of either a Bachelor of Arts or a Bachelor of Education (Secondary) with a Major or Minor in Visual Arts. The scholarship was established to assist and encourage female students studying Visual Arts. The scholarship is valued at $20,000 (Paid as $10,000 in 2nd Semester 2024 and 2025).

Eligibility guidelines

In order to be eligible you must:

  • be an Australian citizen or Australian permanent resident;
  • identify as female;
  • be enrolled full time in an eligible course listed below with a Major or Minor in Visual Arts;
  • be enrolled in 2nd year of eligible course;
  • have and maintain an academic progression status of GREEN;
  • not be in receipt of another scholarship valued at $5000 or over per year; and
  • can demonstrate financial hardship.

The successful recipient will be requested to;

  • Give an interview at the end of third year about what has come from the scholarship. This interview will form the basis of a media release that may be published and that may contain the name of the winning student.
  • Give a talk to prospective or first-year students about the outcomes of the scholarship.

Eligible Courses

  • Y68 - Bachelor of Education (Secondary) Major in Visual Arts (MABUTK) or Minor Visual Arts (MIBION)
  • W33 - Bachelor of Arts Major in Visual Arts (MAAAKA) or Minor Visual Arts (MIAAJP)

How to apply

Application is made via the ECU Online Scholarship Application Portal. Access to the portal is available between application opening and closing dates.

Applicants will be required to provide a personal statement of no more than 1000 words addressing the following;

  • Outline the scope of your artistic vision. How will your art work change yourself and benefit the world you live in? How will this scholarship help you achieve your vision?
  • Describe your current financial personal circumstances and how you would benefit from receiving the Scholarship.

Eligible applications will be assessed by a Selection Committee. Selection will based on:

  • Content of Personal Statement
