WAAPA Shining Lights Scholarships

The WAAPA Shining Lights Scholarships, generously funded by the WAAPA community, help to support the future of emerging artists by supporting them through their financial hardship. Awarded to the brightest students, this scholarship helps our students realise their artistic dreams. It helps to alleviate financial stress, allowing students to focus on achieving artistic and academic success.

Eligibility guidelines

To be eligible for this scholarship you must:

  • be an Australian citizen or Australian permanent resident;
  • be enrolled in a Bachelor course at WAAPA;
  • be studying full-time (60 credit points);
  • have and maintain a course progression status of GREEN;
  • not currently be in receipt of any major scholarships of more than $5000 per annum; and
  • not have been a previous recipient of this scholarship.

How to apply

Application is made via the ECU Online Scholarship Application Portal. Access to the portal is available between application opening and closing dates.

Applicants will be required to provide:

  • a personal statement of no more than 500 words addressing the following;
    • Describe personal and financial circumstances which have had a significant impact on your capacity to study and outline what you hope to achieve upon completion of your studies.
    • You should also indicate how the Scholarship will help you achieve these goals.
  • A statement of support by current lecturer or course coordinator speaking to the candidates' skills and or potential, their approach or commitment to their course.

Selection criteria

Eligible applications will be assessed by a Selection Committee. Selection will be based on:

  • Content of Personal Statement
  • Content of Statement of Support
