Chantelle Mitchell & Jaxon Waterhouse (Ecological Gyre Theory)
23 September - 14 October, 2021
Landslip by Chantelle Mitchell & Jaxon Waterhouse (Ecological Gyre Theory) is a geo-speculative exploration of being-between, positioning the movement of the lithic in relation to states of matter. Enframed by the complexities of more-than-human entanglements, Landslip mobilises archival materials, geologic samples and experimental documentation, reading the movement of earth as a manifestation of our locatedness within the geologic record. This exhibition positions rock fall as an act of slippage, traversal and refutation of terrestrial dialectics and fixedness, interrogating anthropocentric dominance through attention to vibrant and storied matter in motion.
This exhibition is supported by the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries.
