The virtual tour of Spectrum Project Space was made possible through an ECU e-research grant in acknowledgement that two to three years of work is accessible for only a short time frame in a gallery setting. Like many exhibits, the average Spectrum exhibition runs for 3 weeks. It is important to find ways for creative research to endure so that it is available to others in meaningful forms.
The exhibition inConversation (2014) brought together 54 ECU, external: local, national and international researchers across 14 collaborating teams to develop an inter/cross/multidisciplinary artwork. With departure lounges as far apart as the French countryside and the Northern Rivers of NSW they drew from field as diverse as photography, architecture, performance, visual arts, teaching, politics, music, communications, writing, dance, science, artography and geology. Participating teams adopted various approaches to perform, display, and/or represent their conversations. While some conversationalists chose to represent their teams through a dominant discipline, others shared their voices through common ground. The artworks are outputs of organic conversations that started with curiosity and ambiguity.
