Dr George Chen

George has worked as a senior economist at the Chief Economist Team of the Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade), and principal analyst and manager of the Australian national tourism forecasts in Tourism Research Australia respectively. Over the past decades George has led numerous international business and tourism research projects culminating in government research publications. During his public service career, George engaged enthusiastically with academics and industry, contributing to academic research or events on issues relevant to government policy development.

George maintains a well-established network with Australian tourism stakeholders and will pursue academic research and continue to leverage industry resources to support university research.

George has postgraduate qualifications in economics from the Australian National University and Deakin University plus degrees from two Chinese key universities. His expertise includes tourism economics, micro and macroeconomic analysis, time series econometrics and forecasting.
