Biography

Andrei completed his PhD in Management at the University of Otago Business School (AACSB and EQUIS accredited). His doctoral research investigated how authentic leadership behaviour promotes positive organisational outcomes, examined the effects of followers’ cultural values on these conditional processes, and developed a new cognitive-based scale for measuring followers’ cultural differences. Andrei was awarded a full Doctoral Scholarship for the three-year term of his degree.

Previously, Andrei graduated with a Master of Business with Honours (First Class) from the Auckland University of Technology (AACSB and EQUIS accredited), majoring in Management. He co-authored a paper from his dissertation research and presented it at the Academy of International Business 2012 conference in Washington, DC.

Andrei’s research focuses on leadership and organizational behaviour, with interests in positive follower outcomes such as engagement, commitment, and satisfaction, as well as cross-cultural issues such as cognition and values. His current projects are about authentic leadership.

Andrei founded the Leadership & People Research Cluster (LPRC) at ECU. The LPRC brings together academics and HDR students working on leadership and human resource management research so that we can share knowledge, collaborate on joint research projects, and build a more productive research culture.

Andrei also serves as an Associate Editor at the Journal of Management & Organization. Previously, Andrei was a Director, the Treasurer, and Research Committee Chair of the Australian and New Zealand Academy of Management (ANZAM), as well as the ANZAM Conference Chair (2020-2021), Stream Chair of Organizational Behaviour (2018-2022), and the Director of Academic Studies at ECU (2023).
