Biography

Alex Clifton is an accomplished academic and industry professional with extensive experience in transportation systems, sustainability, and project management. Currently a Lecturer at Edith Cowan University, Alex conducts advanced research in transportation telemetry systems, focusing on their sustainability implications. His work is supported by iMOVE CRC and involves significant industry collaboration.

With several decades of experience in technical industrial settings coupled with an academic acumen, Alex has managed large-scale projects across diverse sectors, including automotive engineering and motorsport. His roles have ranged from fleet maintenance management to operations oversight, contributing to successful results across a European theatre.

Alex holds an MBA specialising in Supply Chain Management and Global Logistics along with qualifications in Environmental Impact Assessment, complemented by a strong background in engineering and business. He is a Chartered Member of the Institute of Logistics and Transport and an active contributor to the Australian and New Zealand Academy of Management.

In addition to his academic pursuits, Alex is a key stakeholder not only within industry but also in national transport initiatives. He actively engages in shaping the future of transportation through his involvement in major national projects and industry collaborations. Alex regularly presents at conferences, contributes to key insights on sustainability in transport, and represents academic and industry interests in various high-level forums. His leadership, technical expertise, and strategic insights make him a vital contributor to both the academic community and the broader industry sector.
