The ECU School of Business and Law became a hub of innovation and networking last week, as we proudly hosted the 2024 ANZQAN Annual Meeting. This three-day event brought together thought leaders in business education and accreditation to explore critical topics shaping the future of quality assurance across Australia and New Zealand.
The conference kicked off on Wednesday with a warm welcome and networking opportunities for new and existing members. Over the next two days, attendees participated in dynamic panels, discussions, and presentations on pressing issues, such as generative AI in assessment, ethics, and sustainability in degree programs.
Keynote speakers included Professor Maryam Omari, Executive Dean of ECU’s School of Business and Law, Dr Geoff Perry, Executive Vice President, Chief Membership Officer and Managing Director Asia Pacific, AACSB, Professor Piet Naude, Director in the Quality Services division of the European Foundation for Management Development - EFMD Global, and Professor Rowena Harper, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Education), ECU. Their thought-provoking insights offered a compelling perspective on the future of education. Attendees also enjoyed in-depth sessions on peer review teams and an elegant networking dinner at The Breakwater in Hillarys Boat Harbour, showcasing Perth’s stunning coastline.
The event concluded with impactful sessions focused on accreditation challenges, staff engagement, and strategies for continuous improvement. Participants left inspired and equipped to drive excellence and innovation in their institutions.
Reflecting on the event, Professor Omari shared, “Hosting the 2024 ANZQAN Annual Meeting was a privilege. Our School is honoured to provide a platform for collaboration and knowledge-sharing to help advance quality assurance across business schools in Australia and New Zealand.”
“Together, we’ve sparked meaningful dialogue that will shape the future of business education.”
The baton now passes to the UC Business School, University of Canterbury, which will host the 2025 event.
The 2024 ANZQAN Annual Meeting at ECU was more than a conference—it was a milestone in fostering collaboration and shaping the future of business education.
As attendees return to their institutions inspired and equipped with actionable strategies, ECU School of Business and Law stands proud to have played a pivotal role in advancing quality assurance across Australia and New Zealand.
