Abstract

A Harvard’s article “ESG and Sustainability: Key Considerations for 2021” mentions that “Heading into 2021, corporate, investor and stakeholder focus on ESG will continue to accelerate”. A current Scival analysis of research outputs published by the School of Business and Law’s academics shows that the top research topic published by SBL academics is Environmental Disclosure; Sustainability Reporting; Global Reporting Initiative (Topic T.806) with 25 publications during the period of 2018 to 2022. This shows that areas of corporate governance, sustainability accounting and reporting, and sustainable finance are key research strength areas of SBL that are relevant to today’s business and organisational needs for a sustainable future.

The Corporate Governance and Sustainability Research Cluster (CGSRC) aims to focus on cutting-edge issues of business in society and foster the strength SBL’s research capability. The Cluster captures common interests and approaches of researchers by fostering exchange and collaboration. The attentive research agenda will enable us to create ways for more productive collaborative work, better engagement with industry, government and external academics, a more solid basis for seeking and generating external funding, and more effective mentorships of early and mid-career researchers and supervisions PhD students.  The Cluster aligns with the strategic research priority areas of Accounting and Finance (3501 and 3502). The Centre’s activities fit with ECU’s Research Themes of Society and Culture and Natural and Built Environments.

Resources to Support Diversity and Inclusion Maturity in the Workplace

The benefits of diverse and inclusive workplaces are well documented. Capability maturity models are useful tools to help identify current and desired levels of maturity and plan for continuous improvement. ECU’s Diversity & Inclusion Capability Maturity Model (ECU D&I CMM) provides a practical, evidence-based approach to ensuring D&I are embedded throughout the organisation. The ECU D&I CMM is available to download here, along with some support resources to assist organisations to utilise the CMM to advance their D&I maturity. The CW+W team request any users to cite the tool as per the citation details provided in these resources and we welcome your feedback about how you’ve found using the package
