The aim of the Socio-Legal Research Cluster is to bring together a wide variety of disciplinary expertise including law, international relations, human rights, economics, taxation, and policies that interface with law and society such as energy, the environment, cyber-security, etc. The Socio-Legal Research Cluster aims to enhance focused research in law with an emphasis on the role of law in society. Given the inter-disciplinary nature of this research the cluster encourages outputs both within and beyond the 48 (law) code.
The Socio-Legal Research Cluster will set dedicated time to scholarly research activities in order to establish the following:
- Support, profile and build scale in law and socio-legal research outputs
- Identify and enable areas of emerging legal research
- Foster a strong research performance culture
The Socio-Legal Research Cluster will strive to engender a research culture characterised by high morale, a spirit of innovation, dedication to work, receptivity to new ideas, frequent and encouraging interaction, high degree of cooperation and collaboration, low member turnover, good leader/member relationships, supportive mentorship, and open discussion.
The Socio-Legal Research Cluster will be open to Law discipline staff, other interested researchers and students and will nurture and cultivate relationships with the professional network.
