Members and Families

Through the Children's University program, children can participate in activities of their interest beyond school through:

  • Weekly extracurricular activities (e.g., sport, music, clubs)
  • Programs being run at school (e.g. running club)
  • Free CU holiday workshops hosted on ECU campus
  • Visits to Learning Destinations across WA
  • The CU Online Portal, featuring more than 1,000 self-directed, at-home learning activities
  • Free CU holiday activity booklets

Members record learning hours in their Passport to Learning and are recognised for their achievements through certificates and a special graduation ceremony. Celebrated alongside families, teachers and guests, children wear a cap and gown and experience the excitement of a university setting, inspiring confidence, aspiration and a lifelong love of learning.

How it works

Can my child join Children’s University independently or does my child’s school have to be a member of Children’s University Australasia (CUA)?

To become a CU member your child must attend a partner school as many extra-curricular activities are already taking place in schools, and this is a great starting point for CU learning.

Is there a membership cost involved?

Yes. There is an annual membership fee charged to families for each participating student.

What is a Passport to Learning?

The Passport to Learning is a logbook where CU members ‘collect’ their learning. Each activity is recorded, along with the time spent, and stamped by the school coordinator or Learning Destination. Learning hours build towards CU certificate levels presented at graduations.

What is the Online CU Portal?

The online CU portal offers to members and families:

  • Information about Learning Destinations that families can visit and experiences on offer
  • At-home learning activities exploring many topics including; culture, space, art, sport, the environment, cooking, Science, music / dance, writing, construction, history, special days etc.

Members complete and submit their activities for their School Coordinator to review and to earn stamps in their Passports to Learning.

Do I need to create a portal account?

No. The CU team at ECU will create a username and password for all students and coordinators. These will be forwarded to the School Coordinator, who can then distribute them to members. Neither the username nor the password can be changed by the user.

How do I access the portal?

Once the CU team at ECU have created your account you will need to enter your username and password to gain access. It is a good idea to record your username and password into your Passport Learning.  The portal can be accessed by visiting the CUA website.

What if I forget my username and password?

Please contact your School Coordinator.

Being a part of Children’s University has immensely increased my social skills, knowledge and confidence. It has also increased my passion for learning and my attitude towards learning new things. It has made me more curious and more confident to ask questions about how the world works
