The Children’s University (CU) team partnered with ECU’s School of Science, School of Nursing and Midwifery and School of Business and Law to deliver another successful Children’s University July Holiday Program at Edith Cowan University (ECU). This saw over 80 enthusiastic CU children and family members engage in fun-filled learning experiences hosted at the Joondalup campus.

Whether it was taking the roles of counsel, a witness or jury member in the Moot Court, exploring how games are coded or visiting the hospital demonstration wards to experience a simulated clinical nursing environment, all members of the family enjoyed their visit. These workshops showcased some of the ECU courses available to these young scholars whilst nurturing their passions for learning.

CU School holiday programs aim to allow families to learn together, nurture future aspirations and encourage children to discover new passions. Here is what some of our CU families had to say about what they enjoyed the most:

“That I can now teach some other people how to wash their hands properly” (CU child)

“Very friendly and welcoming staff, thanks ECU” (CU parent)

“I most enjoyed watching my son do something he wouldn’t usually do” (CU parent)

“My sister and I enjoyed making coding because we learnt new things and it was a great experience” (CU child)

“I enjoyed being a defence lawyer” (CU child)

“Expressing my opinion…participating in a court and decision making” (CU child)

“Learning a new skill with my daughter” (CU parent)

Through their survey response a CU child member expressed that attending the workshop has, “Definitely made me more eager to go to university in the future” (CU child).

A sincere thank you to all the incredible ECU workshop facilitators for generously offering the Children's University their expertise to give our CU families fantastic learning opportunities here at ECU and who made this event another success. Thank you to the CU family members who encouraged and supported their children throughout this learning opportunity, helping to foster a love for education and nurturing new interests.
