CU members and their families using their imagination and technology to create animation videos
The Children’s University team worked with ECU Staff from the School of Education, School of Business and Law, School of Science and School of Engineering to deliver a smorgasbord of fun, engaging course and research related workshops to over 90 Children’s University members and their families this September school holidays.
On offer at ECU were nine different hands on workshops that provided opportunities for these young scholars and their families to learn together and explore; marketing strategies of building buyer personas, learn structural engineering skills of simulating, building and testing bridges, use imagination and technology to create animation videos, experience the fun and everyday use of mathematics games whilst learning about the hobbies of great mathematicians and the skills of coding games with microbits.
We would like to thank several of the Children’s University learning destination partners for also delivering highly engaging hands-on workshops that explored the world of volcanoes and sustainable explorations through craft and community garden activities. These included , Australian Earth Science Education, the City of Wanneroo Libraries, the City of Wanneroo Waste Services and Nutmegz Education.
Here is what some of our CU children and family members had to say about their experiences.
“Today was the best CU experience we have had. The activity was excellent. My child now wants to produce animated films as her career, she loved it! The staff were excellent and very encouraging of all the students” (CU parent).
“I Loved learning something new I told my mum I want a PC for Christmas so I can code more” (CU child).
Thank you so much to the ECU staff and Learning Destination partners who offered these workshops allowing the children and their families the opportunity and enjoyment of learning together whilst experiencing what ECU has to offer. As one parent commented, “I had so much fun spending time with my child, learning something new together. Thank you!”.
