All workplace sites have a Workplace Health and Safety Policy and a Risk Management Policy, which Pre-Service Teachers should become familiar with during induction. Familiarise yourself with the school's emergency protocols before your professional experience placement begins.

All Pre-Service Teachers, whilst on Professional Experience placement are covered by ECU’s Personal Accident, Public Liability, Professional Indemnity and Medical Malpractice insurance policy.

Pre-Service Teachers may want to consider Accidental Damage insurance to protect their personal property during professional experience.
If Pre-Service Teachers experience an accident at the school or early learning centre, or during a site-related activity off campus, they must report the incident and submit a Site Incident Report, to their Unit Coordinator and Professional Experience Team Leader.
In the event of whole school incidents, please contact the university as soon as possible. Our guide will help you respond to critical incidents during your professional experience.
