Karen is a Lecturer in Early Childhood for the School of Education.

Background

Prior to working at ECU, Karen was a classroom teacher for 15 years. She has experience working across Kindergarten to Year Three contexts in Western Australia and as an English teacher for young children in Italy. Karen’s classroom environment and pedagogical practice was recognised as an example of exemplar practice and her setting was visited regularly by university students and practicing teachers.

In 2008, Karen was the recipient of an inaugural internship that was a part of an educational project initiated by Reggio Children and in collaboration with Panta Rei Cooperative. This experience continues to inspire Karen's teaching of Pre-Service Teachers at ECU.
