Dr Mashaan is a Civil Engineering lecturer at Edith Cowan University’s School of Engineering. She holds two PhD degrees. Her first PhD in Civil Engineering (Transportation Engineering) was obtained from the University of Malay (UM). She also completed her Master’s degree in research in Civil Engineering from UM. Dr Mashaan’s second PhD on Nanomaterials and waste plastic in building materials was obtained from Curtin University, Australia.

She has over 10 years of engineering management experience as a director. In the last 14 years, Dr Mashaan worked as a lecturer and researcher in Malaysia and Australia. She has published over 100 papers and three books in civil engineering. In 2019, Dr Mashaan earned the title of Associate Fellow (AFHEA) of Teaching and Learning. She has been Guest Editor for several special issues and a keynote speaker in several countries. Her areas of research include Geotechnical Engineering, Transportation, and Nanomaterials. Dr Mashaan’s h-index is 17, i10-index is 25 with total citations over thousand, according to Google Scholar April 2023. For the past 5 years, her SciVal FWCI is 1.5. Her research interests are in developing new materials and methods of using waste recycling materials in Civil Engineering Building and Construction.
