Overview

The Interprofessional Ambulatory Care (IpAC) Program operated from 2010 to 2015. It was a Commonwealth Government funded initiative to provide health students with an interprofessional learning experience.

The IpAC Program provided an interprofessional learning environment and community clinic on the ECU Joondalup campus (the IpAC Unit) which developed communication and collaboration among health students and optimised chronic disease self-management for clients.

The IpAC Program developed a range of interprofessional learning through simulation resources for use within the ECU, the higher education sector, and the wider community. The resources used a root cause analyses approach to identify real problems and how they might be resolved positively. the scenarios focus on the roles that suboptimal communication and leadership and organisational system failures play in near misses and adverse events.
