Prevention of dementia using mobile phone applications

Summary of thesis:

Interventions targeting modifiable risk factors for dementia may have the potential to delay or prevent dementia onset. Mobile health (mHealth) improves accessibility of such prevention strategies and can tailor such approaches. This project aims to explore the needs and views of Chinese older
adults regarding healthy lifestyles for the prevention of dementia and CVD through mHealth to facilitate the design, development, and cultural adaptation of mHealth platforms for dementia prevention, and then assess the effectiveness and implementation of a coach-supported mHealth
intervention to reduce overall dementia risk in older people in China, compared with the corresponding outcomes in the UK.
