Summary of thesis:

A stroke can be uniquely disruptive to a young person’s life, as it affects their most productive years when individuals have work, social, and possible family responsibilities. The consequences of stroke for young survivors often include cognitive impairments, issues with fatigue and decreased quality of life. A promising intervention paradigm, environmental enrichment (EE), has seen positive results in stroke recovery in the pre-clinical setting, and has been explored in the in-patient settings in more recent years. The utility of EE on cognitive outcome and quality of life in young survivors in the out-patient setting is yet to be evaluated. This research therefore aims to evaluate the feasibility of a 12-week, tele-health delivered EE program for young stroke survivors.
