Project Manager: Australian Food Atlas Project

Antonietta is a Project Manager in the Food Environments Team of the Nutrition & Health Innovation Research Institute within the School of Health and Medical Sciences. Her role will project manage the initiation, implementation and evaluation of the Australian Food Atlas Project, bridging the disciplines of nutrition, public health, geography and urban planning.

This unique and innovative project will be the first in Australia to comprehensively map, measure and monitor food access across jurisdictions, creating a national ‘Food Atlas’ designed around the needs of professionals in food policy, public health and planning. The ‘Food Atlas’ will spatially visualise a community’s ability to access food, identifying the people and places with limited access to healthy food and/or an over abundance of unhealthy food.

This unique level of evidence can be used to inform food and nutrition policy and surveillance, support planning decisions and future policy direction to create equitable, health promoting communities that foster healthy eating.
