Young adults aged between 19 and 24 are invited to participate in a research project to better understand the health benefits of social connections.
Researchers from Edith Cowan University (ECU) are hoping to uncover ways in which to improve the well-being of young adults by enhancing social connection in the community.
“Evidence clearly shows that lack of social connection and loneliness are major contributing factors to poor mental and physical health,” ECU Associate Dean and lead investigator Professor Lisa Whitehead said.
Professor Whitehead noted that while there is a growing body of research around how to support older adults to connect with their community, no-one is talking to young adults about this.
“This research project will help us understand how young adults feel about their community, how they connect and how they would like to connect” she said.
Participants will be given a $75 gift card for 30 minutes of their time (one-on-one), either online or in person at a time that suits them.
