Welcome to ECU's School of Nursing and Midwifery

ECU has a reputation for producing some of the highest quality nursing and midwifery graduates in Western Australia, and is recognised as a top 150 nursing program worldwide.

We have dedicated nursing and midwifery courses, including WA’s only nursing and midwifery dual degree program. These courses offer an innovative and broad study approach for scenario-based learning.

At the School of Nursing and Midwifery we integrate education, research and career development into our overall learning and teaching methodology. Our school is unique in this multi-disciplinary approach.

The school offers a diverse and exciting mix of courses that are developed in consultation with industry groups and combine the latest theory with hands-on, practical experiences.

Clinical placements

Students enrolled in courses leading to eligibility to register with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia will undertake clinical placement experiences in a variety of clinical settings across Western Australia.

The School of Nursing and Midwifery offers international clinical placements each year to a group of nursing and midwifery students.

Mothers Adopting Midwifery Students (MAMS)

The MAMS Program offers the support of one specially allocated midwifery student, who will support you and your partner in your personal journey from pregnancy to after the birth of your baby.

Each year the School of Nursing and Midwifery recognises the outstanding achievements of our students through the Schools Executive Dean’s List or the School’s Prize Giving Ceremony.

Scholarships recognise those whose life journey may have been challenging, as well as students who've shown outstanding academic excellence and endeavour. A scholarship can help you realise your ambitions by paying for fees, text books and living expenses

The School of Nursing and Midwifery's research team is driven by a commitment to improve the health and wellbeing of communities and society through evidence-based research, interventions and innovations in nursing and midwifery practice across the lifespan.

Our staff are experts in their field who collaborate with national and international industry partners and universities. Our purpose is to inspire excellence in nursing and practice through innovative and strategic research.
