Adam McCavery

Adam is a Lecturer on the Nurse Practitioner Masters Degree programme and is unit coordinator and principle lecturer for several units within the program as well as teaching into others.  Adam has re-written several of the units to be contemporary and better aligned to the NP standards of practice.

Background

Adam is an experienced nurse practitioner (NP), currently working in medical oncology at a major metropolitan hospital in Perth in addition to his appointment at ECU. He has worked in the UK and around Australia as an NP in various clinical specialties including emergency care, primary care, internal medicine, and oncology

Professional Associations

Adam is Australian College of Nurse Practitioners state chair for Western Australia. This role enables him to participate in advocating for the role of the NP at local, state, and national levels. He is heavily involved in a key piece of legislative reform at state and national levels which will significantly improve access to NP care and remove barriers to NP practice.

Research Areas and Interests

Adam’s research is predominantly translational research aimed at bringing evidence into practice. He has a strong skill set in interpreting quantitative data from randomised controlled trials, as well as experience in conducting quantitative original research and qualitative analysis including thematic analysis, Delphi method, and participation action research.

Adams interest are medical oncology, emergency cancer care, nurse practitioner practice, innovative models of care, nurse practitioner education, and healthcare system analysis and redesign.
