Overview of thesis

Title: Maturity determination and postharvest quality management of selected clones of jackfruit grown under different pre-harvest settings

The Australian jackfruit industry has largely stagnated over the last decade due to lack of proper knowledge of post-harvest techniques and no standardized practice(s) for determining fruit maturity. Therefore, the overall objective of my Ph.D. research work is to optimize the post-harvest technology, thereby extending fruit quality, and reducing the postharvest losses of jackfruit grown in different geographical locations of Australia. It is expected that the success in the present research work will result in an improved understanding of post-harvest management practices of jackfruit clones grown in different pre-harvest settings in Australia.

  • M.Sc. (Hons.) Horticulture (Fruit Science), Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana, Punjab, India, (2019-2021). Thesis title: Effect of Chlormequat chloride application on growth, yield, and quality of grapes under protected conditions
  • B.Sc. Agriculture: Majoring in Horticulture, Punjabi University, Patiala, (2014-2018)

  • Developing post-harvest technologies for maintaining the quality of horticultural produce during extended storage
  • Investigation of innovative approaches to extend the postharvest fruit quality
  • Production technology for improved quality and yield of horticultural crops
  • Evaluation of preharvest factors affecting the quality of horticultural produce
