Dr Carla Zammit is a distinguished researcher at ECU, specialising in geomicrobiology. With over fifteen years of experience collaborating with the mining industry, she has dedicated her career to developing environmentally sustainable solutions for mineral exploration, leaching, and bioremediation. By delving into the metabolic pathways of microorganisms involved in mineral systems, Dr Zammit has pioneered innovative methods to harness these biological processes for industrial applications.
