Clare is a post-doctoral research fellow at the ARC Centre of Excellence for Innovations in Peptide and Protein Science (CIPPS) at Edith Cowan University, specialising in agriculture and food proteomics.
Clare has a strong research background in broadacre crop molecular genetics from The University of Western Australia, where she applied genome sequencing and molecular marker development for selective breeding strategies. During her Industry PhD in Agriculture and Food Proteomics with InterGrain, ECU, and CSIRO, Clare used mass spectrometry-based proteomics to characterise and understand protein abundance changes during malting barley grain germination, providing key insights to inform varietal improvement.
In her current role, Clare combines systems biology and multi-omics approaches to uncover gene-environment interactions on protein expression and their influence on grain composition and quality. Her research directly supports breeding programs aimed at enhancing traits such as nutritional value, processing efficiency, and environmental resilience. Passionate about advancing cereal science, she collaborates with industry, academics and research partners to tackle agricultural sustainability challenges.
