Background
Cass is an experienced science communicator with a background in environmental science, astronomy, and community engagement. She’s also a qualified high school science teacher, and has extensive knowledge around the online realm of social media, videography, and performance.
She has worked with not-for-profits, local government, and universities sharing her love for everything STEM, and looks forward to meeting you at ECU to talk about science pathways.
Cass oversees engagement activities and events within the science and mathematics discipline.
Current Programs
Bayliss Youth Lecture
- An annual lecture organised by the Chemical Education Group of the Western Australian Branch of the RACI. The Bayliss Youth Lecture is free but bookings are essential and places are limited.
LabRats
- LabRats is a community engagement initiative for Years 9 and 10 secondary school students conducted at ECU's Joondalup and South West Campuses.
National Science Week
- National Science Week is Australia’s annual celebration of science and technology. Running each year in August, it features more than 1000 events around Australia, including those delivered by universities, schools, research institutions, libraries, museums and science centres.
RACI Titration Stakes
- The competition is designed to encourage secondary students who enjoy Chemistry, particularly its practical side, to develop their scientific skills and understanding. ECU hosts one of the WA state rounds.
Summer of STEM
- A fun 2 to 3 days of science activities for high school students over the summer holidays, formerly known as the Science Experience.
