Data Analytics: The art of storytelling using data

Too often data storytelling is interpreted as just visualising data effectively. It is, however, much more than just creating visually appealing data charts.
Data storytelling is a structured approach for communicating data insights. It involves a combination of three key elements:

  • Data
  • Visuals
  • Narrative

Why this course is for you

This course is aimed at professionals and leaders whose typical day at work involves decision making, process optimisation, or informing and helping others in leadership positions to take actions and make decisions.

Course overview

The content of this course includes:

  • What is storytelling with data
  • Why is it important
  • Hands-on exercises including how to analyse, wrangle, visualise and narrate using tools such as
    • MS Excel
    • MS Power BI
    • MS PowerPoint
  • Why more data is not always better? Data has defined shelf life and over time data surrounding a specific event can become less relevant. How do you incorporate these influencing factors in the right context into your narration?

Course details

Data Analytics equipment required – Participants are required to bring a PC laptop with the following software already installed:

  • Microsoft Excel
  • Microsoft PowerPoint
  • Microsoft Power BI

Or, if joining the course online, have this software on the device they are using.

Please note: MS Power BI is not supported on Apple computers. If participants do not have a PC laptop, please ensure you communicate this by emailing the team in advance.

This course will be delivered face-to-face or online.
