Harnessing the Power of Workforce Diversity

Organisations that build diverse and inclusive workplaces can untap employee innovation potential and better support diverse clientele.

This workshop will introduce the ECU Diversity and Inclusion Capability Maturity Model (ECU D&I CMM) as a tool that can help organisations achieve this.

Participants will be guided on how to progress their organisation’s diversity and inclusion capability by:

  • Self-assessing strengths and weaknesses;
  • Identifying their current maturity level;
  • Setting realistic target goals; and
  • Planning for continuous improvement.

The presentation will provide practical tips and insights to help organisations work towards D&I maturity in a systematic manner.

Why this course is for you

Workforce diversity can help enhance business performance by tapping into diversity of thought.

Diversity on its own, however, is unlikely to achieve such outcomes without the creation of a strong sense of psychological safety. In safe workplaces, where individuals feel included and encouraged to speak up with their ideas, questions, or concerns. This requires an inclusion focus which is increasingly critical given the changes in WHS legislation that introduces psychosocial risks as risk factors.

The ECU D&I CMM can help your organisation build both diversity and inclusion.

Course facilitators

Dr Uma Jogulu is a Senior Lecturer in Management in the School of Business and Law. Uma has a broad range of research interests that include Careers & Human Management, Migrant and Self-initiated Expatriate, Diversity & Workplace Inclusion and Mixed Methods.

Dr Judy Lundy is a Lecturer in Management and the Director of the Master of Business Administration program in the School of Business and Law. Judy has a broad range of research interests that include Inclusion & Diversity, Inclusive Leadership, Workplace Wellbeing and Workplace Learning. Dr Lundy has a long career in the education, consulting and hospitality sectors and has taught HRM, Organisational Behaviour and Change Management in leading business and hospitality schools in Australia, Canada, New Zealand and The Netherlands.
