Ethics for the Occupational Hygienist and OHS Professional

Today's Occupational Hygienists (OH) and Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) professionals need to have and understanding of the ethical challenges that they may encounter when undertaking their professional role. There are frequently ethical dilemmas in OHS/OH practice, legal requirements for ethical practice, and the professional accreditation bodies have their Codes of Ethics which all members must agree to. This understanding assumes that they also have a good working knowledge of the principles of ethics as it applies to them as OHS professionals and how they interact with other professionals. There is currently no equivalent Australian course to assist people gain these skills and knowledge for these professions. A 2 hour short course is proposed to enhance the professions understanding of ethical practice.

Why is this course for you

  • The course is targeted to accredited occupational/industrial hygienists and OHS professionals who may be required as part of their renewal of their certification, via CPD (Certified Professional Development) points, to have attended a minimum of a 2 hour course in professional ethics.
  • Successful completion of this course will provide participants with current/contemporary knowledge and skills to deal with ethical dilemmas.
  • Participants who successfully complete the course will be issued with a Certificate of Attendance.

Course content

Topics covered will include:

  • the nature of the OHS profession,
  • professional codes of ethics (AIOH & AIHS),
  • confidentiality,
  • whistle-blowing, including duty of care,
  • the responsibility to a business,
  • use and abuses of human research.

Online, ongoing, $150 pp.
