This two-day simulation course is designed for educators from multiple health disciplines who have an interest in simulation-based learning. Ensuring clinical competence can be challenging when opportunities to practice are limited. In the simulated environment errors and practice that is less than ideal offer unique learning opportunities without causing patient harm. Simulated practice is the idea forum to provide opportunities for experiential learning. High-risk activities can be practiced and rehearsed in a ‘safe space’ until the correct response or competency is achieved.
This course will introduce clinical educators to the science and art behind scenario-based simulation as an evolving teaching strategy for improving the delivery of clinical skills training. Participants will be supported to develop and deliver simulated activities for clinical skills training and assessment that facilitates the transfer of knowledge into the workplace guided by evidence-based practice.
